Welcome to my self portrait series. It’s a project that has been at the top of my to-do list for the past year and half. I just never got around to doing it and this year, I vowed that I would make time.
First of all, getting in front of the lens is nerve racking enough. To photograph yourself….well, that’s even worse. LOL! It’s you and the camera (self timer). It’s pretty vulnerable and honest. After several tries and 20 minutes later, I have to be honest, it’s a lot harder than it looks. I was finally able to get these shots.
The purpose for this project is to document and reflect on what happened in the month, and to give you a peek into my personal life. I also want to have it as a benchmark for my growth during the year, personally and professionally!
January for me, is a time to reflect and set new goals for the year. I have some pretty lofty goals this year. My first one it to be present. Wherever I am at, or with whom ever I’m with, I want to be present. I also want to focus on health and wellness. I wear many hats and it’s a juggle for sure. I often forget to take care of myself. So, this year is the year I get back on track. I used to run and loved it, I loved how it was me and the road. Sometimes with music, sometimes without, and it was just the sound of my feet on the pavement and the surroundings. With the motivation of my daughter, we will be running a 1/2 marathon together.
There are a few smaller ones on my list, but I feel the ones that I mentioned above are the most important to me. I wrote all my goals down and hope to have them crossed off by the end of the year (God willing).
So here’s to a great kick start to 2017!
